This sculpture of a grey partridge started off as an observational exercise because, aesthetically, they appeal to Elisabeth very much. As a species, they have very characteristic movements which, above their counterparts, endow them with a certain dainty elegance. This particular partridge is a large scale representation. Elisabeth felt that a slightly enlarged bronze would add dignity and portray a little of this elegance, even when stationary.
